In the beginning of March my local Romance Writers of America chapter held its Spring Retreat. Aside from giving the ladies a chance to catch up, "talk-shop" and have some uninterrupted time to write I gave a presentation on visualizing success. The presentation I gave focused on visualizing your writing success, but the techniques work well for any endeavor.
Visualization is really a simple yet powerful concept that has been instrumental in helping at many times in my life. As I look back over the past year, I need to say I have employed visualization many times with fabulous results. My first full-length book, Celtic Heart, has won an award and will be coming out this spring with a sequel scheduled for the summer. Without knowing where I wanted to go as writer, I would never be able to get there.
Here is something to try: On a piece of paper write down the phrase: When I imagine success, it looks like this... After deciding what success means to you, write down your own personal point of view. I believe that the written word is very powerful. Once something is put in writing not only is it out of your mind and has become permanent.
Now, you have your own thoughts on success on paper. Sit back and relax. Take several deep breaths and release your tension. Picture yourself becoming the success you imagined. Believe it is possible, because it is. No matter what the venture, you deserve success.
Two things to consider. First, visualization is not enough. You need to work hard to make your dreams come true. Second, make sure what you visualize is done so in a loving way. The world is a mirror. Everything sent out is eventually reflected back.
Happy Spring and Happy Reading!
Take Care,
Jen
